Light
Will Be at the Last
I have felt desire thunder through the heart
To settle in the pit where passion lies
Known too Her love divine so pure, so wide,
All beauty in her kohl shaded eyes.
And then in this embodiment I saw
Her smile at me and all the world was changed
And when she spoke I knelt and gazed in awe,
My life remade, the past rearranged.
I looked at former lives across a shore
I could not cross, rivers I need not ford
And knew a joy never known before,
These moments in the presence of the Lord.
Yet none is free from taint by evil's touch
And darkness still in human hearts resides
In the mirror of my soul I see this much,
What is to be when all the gloom subsides.
I am convinced of the eternal good
But the horrors of the present and the past
Weigh heavily upon our brotherhood.
Still there is light and light will be at the last.
